Way’s Statement
As an avid disciple of psychology, I have always had a fascination with human interaction and the relationships people form with each other. I think that often times people take their relationships with other people for granted and fail to recognize how deeply they can affect one another. I work to understand and bring to visual light the result of human interaction and our collective endeavors to form, sever, twist and knot our social bonds. Sometimes we misread a person’s intentions entirely and sometimes we feel inseparable from another person. My efforts to capture these moments are expressed through the contortion of the human figure across large sections of material. In order to arrest the raw energy that I feel in relation to my personal experiences, I work spontaneously in my application of medium.
